Planning to attend? Post here!OK, this thread is just to introduce yourself and say you are planning to come, as the people are very much a feature of the event.
I'll start - I'm CJ, a roleplayer of many years, and one of the authors of The Mysteries Revised Edition (TMRE). I have also written for other games, including Call of Cthulhu. A few years back I created a fun Ars Magica based boardgame I am keen to try out on anyone interested, and as the author of several well known freeforms I will be writing the freeform for the Saturday afternoon slot (optional but fun!)
As the event instigator do pm me with any questions, or just ask on here. In real life I am a TV ghosthunter and writer...

Hi folks!
I'm Kevin Sides, AKA arsvim. I tend to lurk on the berklist for Ars, If you check the front of the 5th Ed main book, you'll find me under playtesters, and I'm an IT and Sci-Fi Geek. I am not a medieval historian so don't ask anything like that to me!
I've been roped into helping CJ out, and will be running around Cheltenham to sort out locations and stuff, I can see it coming.

My turn.
I'm Matt Ryan. I stared playing Ars Magica right before the third edition came out. My first magus was a necromancer with a grand total of three Virtues and three Flaws. I started contributing as an author with Living Legends, the last (I think) of the fourth edition books, by answering the Open Call for that book. Since then, I've been included in several projects, and am responsible for Houses Bonisagus and Verditius. Hate original research? Blame me.
I live in Ithaca, New York, which is pretty close to the middle of the state. My family has been here for generations, since the Revolutionary War, a big messy mix of Irish and English ancestors. A colorful family history of malcontents, priests, and policemen.
CJ's Grand Tribunal sounds like too much fun to miss. It's a 16 hour flight (apparently), but what's a day in the air for a weekend of Ars mayhem? Count me in!

I'm Yannick Loitière (a.k.a. Fruny). I played a Merinita in a 3rd edition campaign that ran weekly for two years until Wizard's of the Coast's thrice-cursed card game killed it.
I'm just back from spending seven years in the US and have returned to a tiny, tiny village in the north of France, near Laon. The village is located in a small natural preserve (wetlands) and features a 13th century church (right outside my bedroom window), whose bells, ringing the hours, usually wake me up in the morning.
I'm currently unemployed (MS in Comp. Sci. and in Engineering) but dearly hope that whatever job I do manage to find won't prevent me from attending the Grand Tribunal.

AttendanceI have every intention of being there.
Neil Taylor told me about his favourite RPG just as 4th edition was about to come out, so I agreed to try it, joining his brand new saga. I played in Saxum Caribetum right through the life of 4th edition and the development of 5th edition.
I took on the job of copy editor for Hermes Portal when it started, and wrote a couple of things for that. Then I sent stuff in when there were Atlas Open Calls for Living Lore, vis sources for Covenants, and characters for Living Covenant, and was lucky enough to have a few accepted. My name is one of those on the cover of City & Guild.
I've helped to run conventions and know how much hard work it can be, so am extremely grateful to CJ for volunteering to set up this exciting event.

AttendenceI'm Barry. I've been playing ArM for about 15 years when my first GM ran Stormrider and have been on and lurking around the fringes of the berklist for about ten years, I think. I don't get to play Ars too often, but over the years have been involved in a couple of online saga's. I'm hoping to drag along three four or maybe more, people that are all into Ars Magica. I'll definitely be there as this is two days before my birthday so seems like an ideal way of giving myself a birthday present

Hi there!
My name is Jeppe. I've amassed Ars books since the 3rd edition, I run a 5th edition saga on its 3rd year (started out as 4th), but have nothing to my name in terms of Ars.
I work as an officer in the Fire & Rescue service and instructor at the Fire & Rescue Academy. But I'm also trying to study at same time -History and political science- with mixed (prolonged) success. I have a keen interest in international affairs, development and humanitarian aid - having travelled the world working with the Red Cross and United Nations. Something I hope to do for longer stretches once I get around to finishing university.
I live in Aarhus, Denmark and I really really hope to be able to attend this fantastic venue! And I'll also be trying to persuade my fellow troupe members to come along. I terms of cons I often prefer alternative or experimenting roleplaying - with focus on story and/or medium and genres rather than system (if any), but the chance to go to an international venue is too big a chance, especially since it'll be people all loving Ars from whom to get inspiration and a broadening of horizons!
Kind Regards,
Jeppe
P.S.: I recieve the Berklist lurking but have ever lessening inclination towards getting actively involved, but some might have met my not-so-lurky Furion-alter ego over at the Atlas' Forum.

Well Barry can't let you celebrate alone... and any excuse to do Ars stuff is always welcome.
I'm up for Ars LARP too if any is being considered

Hi Volkazz,
> What is the best route from the M40?
In my experience the *easiest* route is straight down the A40. (from Bucks/wycombe direction, go straight to Oxford, take the A34 down to the A40, and then follow the road all the way to Cheltenham. Speed camera warning, 60 really is the Max you should try for, the road has a lot of gentle curves.

Hi, I'm Neil - I wrote TMRE with CJ, and Faerie Stories for 4th Ed with Phil Masters, and a chapter fo 5e Covenants.
I ran a Saga from the very start of 4th Ed, through the development of 5th Ed until about 2 yrs ago when I hit "burn out", and went into suspension.
I'm planning to come down from Cambridge with Sheila Thomas, and to stay over Friday/Sat nights to get full benefit of the day in Cheltenham, and stagger the relatively long drive.

Hi! My name is Erik Dahl. I've been playing Ars Magica since Second Edition, and my first magus was a Bjornaer with an owl heartbeast who had been adopted into House Bonisagus. Unfortunately, he was killed in the first session by an enemy with a spear (Jehan, from Pact of Pasaquine). For some reason that event did not sway my enthusiasm for the game, and I've been an Ars zealot ever since. I wrote several articles for Hermes Portal, and submitted a chapter to Living Lore, and since then I've been inextricably involved with many of the Fifth Edition books, including the Realms of Power series and the Houses of Hermes. I accept my responsibility for what happened to Mercere and Merinita, and I am hoping to defend my actions at Grand Tribunal 2007. It seems like a tremendous opportunity and an unforgettable occasion. I hope that I can convince some of the many others who share my love of the game to explore the possibility of making the trip with me, as I am convinced it will be a fantastic experience and a Mythic adventure worthy of legend. I'm not sure if I can swing it just yet, but if I can, I look forward to joining these true masters of Ars Magica in person.

I am the primal force known only as Mark Lawford. That's not true, actually. I'm known by many other names, some of them pronounceable and less of them publishable.
I've been playing Ars Magica for... does sums in head... about 16 years. I started on a Tytalus Certamen master (so I rue the day Certamen was removed as an ability in fifth edition) before moving onto shamen, Bonisagi, Jerbiton, Bjornaer and Verditius.
And of course I've done more than my fair share of storyguiding, inserting puns and oddities (who is the Lady in Waiting, what does the box marked "a Mother's Kiss" actually do, and is it really necessary to kiss the Bee's Knees in ritual deference) into stories with somewhat frivolous abandon and ensuring that the simplest of throw-away comments leads to the resolution hiding in plain sight.
But in all those years I've not managed to get a single written word published. Maybe there's still time...

I'm Oliver Kenton, a twenty something geek currently working for the Home Office in the UK (soon to be the Ministry of Justice). I've been RPing since i was 13 and i've played a huge variety of different games and settings. I got into ars in 4th ed but only got to play a few times, my regular gaming groups were too WW and D&D hardcore.
Only recently have i converted some friends over to Ars, and we've been running a campaign set in the Stonehenge tribunal ever since. I've got to say, its been ace. I've always been a fan of wizardly doings, and the old D&D "i've killed 300 goblins, therefore my magic skills and knowledge have increased" never really clicked with me.
I'm very much looking forward to meeting all these interesting web people that have been so kind as to answer my queries and discuss ars ponderings with me on the main ars boards.
Hopefully, i can convince my troupe to join me.

AttendenceThe stars are right, at least according to those who claim to know. If the stars should remain like this, and if neither the apocalypse, nor one of the minor cataclysms that are also predicted to come to pass sooner or later, should arise before the event, I shall embark upon a journey to the British Isles, to attend the Tribunal.

I can almost certainly make it - count me in.
I have been role-playing since the 70's and playing (or pining for) Ars Magica since Third Edition. I regularly lurk on the BerkList and the Atlas forums but rarely have time to post. Currently without a troupe so Grand Tribunal will certainly help with my withdrawal symptoms.

Just a quick note to mention that registration is now open (at very reasonable prices) and that the wiki is up and running (thanks Pitt!) and that there is now a thread for sign ups for the LARP!

Leif Olav Jøsang from Norway here.
I've been playing Ars Magica more or less regularly since 1994, when we discovered the 3rd edition in a catalogue from one of the very few RPG-shops in the country at the time.
Since then I have bought every Ars book published. And read a few as well.
I'll do my best to persuade my troupes to join as well, though they are pig headed and tight pursed.

And now I've payed my admission fee, and probably recruited one or two troupe members.

Hello,
I'm Nick Meredith, from Coventry in England, so only travelling an hour or so to get to the event. I finally registered yesterday, when I managed to confirm that I'm not working or otherwise committed over the weekend.
I've nothing published for Ars Magica, but I am running a weekly face-to-face ArsM5 campaign set in Armenia. Why Armenia? I saw a plan and some pictures of a monastery there that just screamed 'Covenant' to me. It's even taken me on holiday to visit the site. Buy me beer and I'll tell you all about it.
Otherwise, I've played some Ars, including some huge freeform/LARP crossover tribunal games. I work in IT in the motor industry,a nd have no formal history qualifications, but that doesn't stop me from going to far too many evening classes on medieval / local history topics.

OK, I have sent last minute reminders to everyone, and we have also been spamming I'm told the Berklist and Atlas forums for weeks, so hopefully everyone who wants to come has now been told! Final numbers shoudl be between 25 and 30 - a good turn out!
